Does SuSE 8.2 YaST have a utilitie to update kernel?

Does SuSE 8.2 YaST have a utility to update the kernel or does it need to be done the good 'ole fashion way via command line?

I am wondering when I do an update with their site, if it automatically updates the kernel.

When you do an update with YOU, the kernel will be patched, but it will still be 2.4.20-4gb. I believe there have been at least 2 patches since the release. It will also download and replace the kernel-source with a matching one. Of course, this is only if you select the option for manual installs or do autmatic installs. SuSE generally does not update packages. They just provide security patches to the provided packages in the original distribution. For the latest and greatest rpms you need to go to packman or usr-local-bin. also has an apt repository of SuSE rpm updates. Of course you can always get the latest kernel from the kernel site, but be warned that because suse's kernels are so patched, you will get alot of errors at first - SuSE for me was the hardest distro so far to compile a kernel on. RH and Slack were a piece of cake. YMMV
