qupzilla is much lighter than firefox, yet almost full-featured. fairly recent versions are stable enough.

don't get your hopes up though; both processor and gpu are past their prime.
also take care to install the proper proprietary driver for your nvidia clone (the legacy series, 304.xx iirc).
