Distro recommendations for older iBook
Just snatched a couple of ibooks at a yard sale for $50 each, good deal. They both run OSX, 128 mb RAM, looks like 20 GB hard drive. I don't think these are going to handle anything heavier than XFCE.
I'm assuming these have PowerPC architecture...? So good support for PowerPC is a must.

Debian, Gentoo, Arch or one of the BSDs.
Edit: Forgot Yellow Dog and Frugalware.

Most of distros will run because Linux is kernel and if you will strip down existing distro from #Bling%-*Bling$ items(like Gnome or KDE or 100 services on startup) you will get same performance. But if you like more suggestions - AntiX, Absolute, Austrumi..

I put a Debian netinst on an old G3 iMac a couple of years ago along with LXDE. It went pretty smooth but was a little tricky with the ATI graphic card. I still have the machine but haven't used it since.

Most distros don't have a PowerPC-port, so no, most distros will not work.
