Distro of choice for KDE 4?

openSUSE? Kubuntu? PCLinuxOS? Other?

I currently use Kubuntu. I switched from XP a few months ago to Ubuntu, but GNOME wasn't a good fit. Now I'm on the KDE bandwagon waiting for the next generation to arrive. What distribution will come out the strongest upon release?

I don't know, and I'm not sure that anyone else knows for sure, but...

SuSE 10.3 comes with a 'tech preview' of KDE 4 (OOB), and I think you can take that as evidence that, at the time that SuSE had to commit they thought KDE wasn't really ready. Presumably, there will be an update available later and you won't have to wait for 10.4 (assuming that's the next release) to get it.

I've also seen 4.00 described as being mostly a developer release in that it will primarily to allow developers to make sure that all the component parts work optimally withing the new infrastructure. So, for most end users, 4.01 (or something like that) might be a better choice for productive use than 4.00.

Of course, your point of view might be 'shiny, shiny, I can't wait'. Just be prepared for the likely consequences of that.

Exclamation

I didn't do it but i know you can download kde4 and install it by kubuntu repos by adept but i heard it can cause boot and login problems if you did something wrong..anyway,google around..

They said new stable suse should have it on..so you'd better wait for that and install it directly

I think that the next Linux Mint KDE (KDE Daryna) may be the version that'll have 4.0 before the "buntus".

Nah, I think it's different enough... for now. The release of KDE4 is very anticipated, not necessarily a need to conglomerate it yet.
