distro like Finnix, but w/newer kernel

I'm having some with issues with newer Linux kernels (post 4.9.x) that I did not have with older kernels (4.4.x seams to be working). I would like to tryout a newer Finnix, but the project seams dormant.

The key features in a distro

#1 NEEDS - post 4.9.x kernel that is why my currently looking

#2 NEEDS - to be bootable off CD -> preferred bootable from an iso image with loopback. Runs without installing

#3 NEEDS - 32bit x86 operational

#4 small download under 500M, -> preferred same size as Finnix

#5 preferred text based UI

I've explored distrowatch.com, but the search parameter "live cd" seams to be missing.

Any suggestions for a distro?

if that's all there is to it, there's dozens like that.
distrowatch search category "data resue" or "disk management" maybe?
