Distro for only playing music

Hello there, I am pretty much a noob at linux. So far I have messed around with some versions live cd's and tryed to install a few. I got ubuntu working installed on my hard disk, but it ran slow. So now I am using puppy linux, and it works great.

My problem is, I need to set up a computer for a bowling alley, it only needs to be able to play music. The computer they currently use is 1 ghz 256 mb ram, but it is so overloaded with other applications (windows me system btw) that the music skips. So now they want to get a dedicated music computer, but they do not want to pay for an os.

So i need a minimalist distribution that I can install some sort of music playing software. It has to be easy to use since all the employees need to use it to set up playlists. They have a huge collection of music so if it could have a built in library or something.

can somebody please give me some suggestions on what to do with this, cause i really have no idea.

thx
