Distro for Blender/Gimp/Maya graphics platform
Evenin`
So I've been dual-booting Windows/Ubuntu for about 6 months now, and I'm ready to ditch Windows all together.
As such, I'd like to format and install a linux distro.
My day to day use is as follows:
I am an open source artist, I use programs such as Blender, Wings3d, the Gimp, and very soon I'm going to try and purchase Maya.
My question is, what Distro would be best for a situation like this.
I need a distro that is lightweight, and fast.
What windowmanager would you choose?
Thank you

What was wrong with Ubuntu?
Lightweight? How about Ubuntu with XFCE?

Well, Ubuntu Hoary has just been so sluggish in day to day use.
I'm just looking for a speedier distro.

Sluggish? Even with XFCE? What kind of RAM do you have? How big is your swap? It sounds as if you do some pretty graphics-intensive work. I don't know if changing the distro is going to help. My guess is either you try XFCE or IceWM, or you upgrade your RAM.
