Difference(s) bet. Major Distro(s)

I been using Windows since I was 11yrs old but Win95 for 2yrs stopped, then started using WinME since year 2000 then moved on to XP since it came out whatever anyways. I'm self-taught/self-learned basically. I started using Linux in November of 2004. After my friend started telling me about Linux and showing LIve-CDs so I got tempted and it all started in Nov. I been through tons of distro(s) just playing around first and I have done more than playing too. Anyways my point is I'm trying to learn and find out the differences bet. the following distro(s) which are mainly the most popular and major ones.

- Mandrake
- Fedora
- Debian
- Gentoo
- Slackware

PS* I made a lil poll there just to get some ideas & you can choose multiple choices if yo like..

Thanks a lot !

Where is Red Hat 9? The original Red Hat distros are better that Fedora because the original Red Hat Linux was all red hat. If I move my server from RH9 it will either be to BSD or RHEL.
