Deleted important linux mint system files, Attempts to re-install freeze

I successfully installed linux mint 18.2 with a Windows 10 dual boot (Windows was previously installed). After trying to uninstall some pcre libraries that were causing problems. I destroyed the operating system. I typed 'Yes, do it anyway' before mint crashed and would not come back.

I cleared the partition from the windows partition manager.

I tried to re-install linux mint with the same iso image on a usb disk I used previously but it freezes on the moving dots below the mint logo screen. When launching compatibility mode it sends some fast error messages then loads to a mint login. I re-burned the iso image to the same effect.

I put ubuntu on the usb and tried again. It froze at the same moving dot ubuntu screen.

I suspect the files from the old destroyed mint are still be read or something?

I am quite lost of what to do.

After rebooting many times trying to read the printing from compatibility mode it finally let me into the installation. Everything is working now on this installation.
I did read "bad file system" at one point.

I pushed in my laptops power cord more tightly right as it worked. Must have been the solution. Just kidding.

Welcome to LQ.

That's partly what's fun about Linux. The ability to fix things yourself and of course don't forget customization. Glad you got it fixed though.... power cords can be mean:)
