Debian Woody - /etc/profile deleted

Hi everybody!

I deleted (don´t ask why, it was a stupid mistake) my /etc/profile
Now i can´t create an new one (for example with "joe /etc/profile") and i even don´t know what i habe to write into it.
Could anybody help me?

Some more explanations:
- if i want to create the file, joe says: error opening file
- if i want to replace it with the one from /usr/share/base-files i get the error file already exists
