Debian Installation and Promise Ultra DMA 100

Hi all!

I am experimenting with replacing my mandrake installation with debian. I downloaded CD one of debian to give it a whirl.

At the moment I am going to test it out on an old 4 gig drive. I would eventually like to put it on my 40 gig drive which mandy is currently sat on(!)

However the I noticed the debian installation doesn't detect my hard disks plugged in through the promise ultra 100 controller.

I fished around a bit and found that there is an option to load in modules for things like the promise controller..

Can anyone tell me where I can find the disk with the driver module on for my promise controller. I have searched debian.org but it not very clear(!)

Or any other way to get the other disk drivers showing up?

For now I be content to try out debian on my lowly 4 gig drive!

Thanks in advance

Tom

I'll tell you how mine is setup:

I've got the 2.4.19 kernel
Under the ATA/IDE/MFM/RLL support section, then IDE, ATA and ATAPI block devices make sure you have the following checked:

Promise PDC202{46|62|65|67|68|69|70} support
Special UDMA Feature

That's all it took for me. Obviously make sure the controller card is setup as a boot device in your BIOS.

I'm sure the regular posters will let you know if I've missed something.
