Debian - disk problem
Good morning,
I 'v been trying (6 attempts) to install Debian Sarge 3,1 (Deskop option)on a Dell733 - 128mb ram - Nvidia Geforce 2 (32mb) with a IBM 3,2GB and a Western Digital 6,4GB IDE-disks.
It installs normally but at the first reboot - Debian says there are disk errors - problems with inode and such... then multiple lines of dots and then the system hangs. After a reboot the computer stays inactive - not even grub.
Just to check I re-installed the Suse 9.0 which I used before on that pc - no problems at all - works as charm.
I reformatted both disks (ext3fs) with Debian so this can not be the problem.
I tried it on a maxtor 20GB (same pc) the last few hours - same result.
This is very strange - I used Redhat 7.2 , 7.3, Suse 8.0 an 9.0 on the same machine
My last attempt was with the 14 cd's - before I used ftp. It makes no difference.
Any suggestions to get Debian up and working ?
