I have a Sager Notebook NP 2260 P III, 512mb, Why is it that when I try to boot from the 1st installation cd of my debian 3.0 inst, the screen goes white, blank and hangs up. no activity. Any suggestion, I don't know what the problem is. Any help are greatly appreciated. Thanks
If you got an official cd set you can try another cd.They are all bootable with different kernels.I think on the first is still kernel 2.2.20.You can try cd5 - that has a kernel called bf2.4 which should support most newer hardware. But I got really no idea what hardware you got in that notebook.
I got a SIS 630 chipset in my box and use debian without any trouble.Only thing I could think of is that has something to do with the LCD screen. The chipset should work ok.BTW at http://www.winischhofer.net are the newest drivers for SIS graphics and a lot of info.

As mention above, try creating a boot disk. Also you may want to check this site out, http://www.anikin.com/sager/Sager.html if you haven't already. It's not exactly yours, but may give you ideas!
