Crux Linux

Hello. I just installed Crux Linux 0.9.4 with kernel 2.4.19 and everything seems to went fine until I got to the booting without the cd disc.

When I boot for the first time from the hard drive, I get to this stage:

Uncompressing Linux: Ok, booting the kernel.
Kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, error=2.
Then Kernel panic error, Unable to mount root filesystem.

I did recompile the kernel for my hardware and now I can't remember if I added or removed any scsi related items. But I don't believe I would have added scsi to the kernel.

It seems that its trying to load a scsi module but I don't have any scsi devices, not even a cd burner. But I do have a dvd drive and it's an IDE model.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to fix this?

I have an AMD XP 1700, Shuttle VIA 266 mobo, 256mb of ram, ATI Radeon 32mb sdr video card.

I already have Slackware 8.0 & Debian 3.0 installed without any problems.

I had the same problem, however that's an irrelevant error. Normally it would just pass right over that. Chances are you've configured your kernel without devfs filesystem support or SMP. I simply added the devfs support and took out the SMP then recompiled *presto*.
