copy files from your hard drive to usb key with Knoppix

I have been using Knoppix and wanted to copy files from my hard drive to my usb key but it wont let me because it is a read only file. Now the usb key shows up on the desktop as sda1 along with all the other hard drive partitions. Is this something I can do with Knoppix.. copy files off the hard drive?

Right click on the icon for the sda1 and change the read-only that is checked in the permissions tab IIRC.
