Connecting to windows-shared HP P1007 & 1018 printer
Greetings.
I have a box running CentOS 5.5 in my network. On windows machines in my network, HP P1007, 1018, and 2015 printers are configured and shared. All the shared printers are accessible on the windows network. I configured the 2015 printer for the linux box. When i try to connect to the other models, i am not sure what generic drivers to use for these models. I am able to verify that the printer share is available, but i am not aware of the suitable driver to use to print on these printers. Suggestions on the type of drivers to use for these printers is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
You should be able to find everything you need: drivers, instructions, compatibility lists, etc here:
http://www.hp.com/go/linuxprinting .. and here .. http://www.openprinting.org/printers/manufacturer/HP Specfically: Code:
Model: Driver: |
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have checked with the drivers. For the P1007 printer shared from a windows box, i have used the make and model as "Generic GDI Printer Foomatic/foo2xqx" and able to get the prints. When I try to print on the 1018 printer using the make and model as "Generic GDI Printer Foomatic/foo2zjs" I am not able to print any data instead a blank page comes out. Steps I have taken to accomplish for the P1007 is as provided in this link: http://foo2xqx.rkkda.com/ The Generic GDI Printer Foomatic/foo2zjs driver is already available, so i have not tried it from http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ Kindly advice me. Thanks in advance for your inputs |
Dear Mod,
I take this time to thank all who have helped me in solving my printing issue. I have finally been successful in using a printer connected to a windows box from my box. After having installed the proper drivers, then select HP instead of generic and select the required printer model and the new driver loaded is listed, making use of this I am able to print on the desired printer. Thanks once again for your valuable inputs and support. Xavier. |
