Conectiva 8?
Anyone here know anything about Conectiva 8? Or even any experience w/ Conectiva at all? I would appreciate any impressions you might have. I am sick and tired of rpm dependencies and I have no idea if I'm ready to try Debian since I don't want to risk losing my Windows partition at this time. Anyone in SoCal want to buy my copy of SUSE8.0 Personal?

Beware of Conectiva... It's a RH based Brazilian distro. It's good for novice (not so as Mand). It's not bad, though, but if you're tired of RPM dependencies, get Debian or Slackware.

I vote Suse8 Prof. . . . . . its so easy to install and unistall ....
RPM is not the problem. you can always download the tar balls and do the installation by your own..... |
With connectiva you have the same frontend for managing rpm's like in debian - synaptic.
The keyword here are frontend and rpm - you still have the same troubles with dependencies like anywhere else. If you are in Brasil go for it - screw anything else; you can always download whatever you need. If you are really sick and tired of rpm's go debian or compile yourself. But you will have some fun either way. |
