CentOS a good option for Oracle installations?

I would like to setup and learn more about the Oracle database. There is a free version Oracle XE

I believe that Redhat is the officialy supported Oracle distro, but I don't want to pay for that as I'm doing this at home in my free time, I believe that CentOS is the closest (free) alternative to RH?

I downloaded the LiveCD but I was unable to find an option to install it (there was nothing on the bootloader, and couldn't see any icons on the desktop)

Does this mean that I need to download all 6 CDs? Does it even matter what distro I take for Oracle XE?

Many thanks

So just go download Oracle Express. You'll find on the download page that the Linux x86 edition is available for Debian, Mandriva, Novell (I presume they mean Suse), Red Hat and Ubuntu -- http://www.oracle.com/technology/sof.../xe/index.html.
