CentOS 6.6 or CentOS 7 (1503)?
 

I wish to install CentOS but I am unable to decide the version. I have read about CentOS 7 and have noted that it has not matured fully and there are some issues with it. Also there is no 32 bit version for CentOS 7, although I have read in CentOS forums that there might be a 32 bit community edition after some time. I wish to know about CentOS 6.6 as it has 32 bit version and is more mature. Kindly inform if I install CentOS 6.6 would I be able to run all software that runs on CentOS 7?:confused:

There will always be "issues", since bug-free software is impossible to achieve. CentOS 6 will be supported for quite a few more years, so it's still worth getting. The 32-bit version of CentOS 7 will take a little time to arrive, as they can't just take the programs out of the Red Hat repository; RH no longer has a 32-bit version. When it does arrive, there'll be another wait for the third-party repositories (EPEL, RPMfusion, etc) to catch up, and the home user particularly really needs those (e.g. for media codecs). Version 6 has much the same range of software that 7 has, but older editions in most cases.

PS I'm using the 32-bit CentOS 6, and I'm happy (for what that's worth!)

Kind of some major thinking changes in 7. Might as well go with it since it should be the thing to come soon for many distro's.

Without knowing what software you wish to run we can't say what will be supported. 7 is not some kids dream, it is a real clone of a commercial product. I dobut you can go wrong with it on a supported platform and as you say, your apps will be supported.

There is no real need to run this on anything less than a server or other quality hardware. Worse comes to worse you can run a vm.
