Install without the X11 components. Edit your /etc/inittab and edit following

Code:
id:5:initdefault:
to
Code:
id:3:initdefault:
It will boot into multiuser runlevel 3 without gui next time your reboot.

During installation on package selection, uncheck gnome and x-window, or you can uncheck everything.

if you already installed windows manager, modify /etc/inittab , set initdefault to 3 then reboot.
