Boot to black screen after installing Devuan
I had what seemed to be a smooth installation process for Devuan, but when I tried to boot up the os, there was just a black screen with a blinking white line. I cannot do anything on this screen. I redownloaded the iso and tried to install it again, and it still has the same problem.

What is the make/model of the computer and, in particular, what is the video chipset?

well as you don't have any data on it you have nothing to lose by reinstalling
and set the default run level to 3
once you get to the terminal run " x --configure " that will give you a message telling you how to test your new config file
if that doesn't work try downloading the iso remake the install media and reinstalling
