Best linux distro for my needs.

I'm new to this forums, so first, Hello !
Second, I'm an Argentinian teen, so my English may be a bit bad, so excuse me.

Well, one of these days; I'm going to buy a new Laptop.
A powerfull laptop, with an I5, 4Gb of RAM, a Nvidia card, etc.

I need a Linux Distro with the following requirements:

- Out-Of-The Box
- Fast
- Good comunity
- Freedom (Not like Ubuntu, where you remove Chromium and it installs Firefox)
- Good for a Power User

I use Arch Linux in this PC, this PC will remain for Arch Linux, Gentoo, Slackware, and all that distributions.

But I need a stable and ready to use Linux Distro.

I have bad experiences with Debian, I can try... but simply... I hate it, the installer is so much complicated (Even more than Arch one) so I need a ready to install Distro.

I also need easy access to Nvidia Drivers, Wi-Fi Drivers and so... as I said... this will be a Stable Linux Box, I don't want to spend two weeks making the PC usable.

I don't have a preference for DE, I like anything except GNOME3 and LXDE.

I also want to get easy access to some WM like Ratpoison and so.

It doesn't need to be a Linux Distro, It can be a *BSD one too !

That's a little contradiction, isn't it? When you like a distribution for a power user, so there'll be always a little hassle with this and with that - but nevertheless you'll be in control.

Nvidia - that sounds like you're using state-of-the-art gpu's, do you?

Still I would suggest you Debian, perhaps take a look at Gentoo - not so much Out-of-the-Box but a neat solution :)

Beside all this discussions about what distribution to choose it's just a question DEB, RPM or your own.
You can modify all distributions to your needs, you don't need distro-X, build on-top of distro-Y, which was build around distro-Z... X, Y is often just one of the big distributions with some package selection and almost any further integration of different components. I think here about these so called distributions with Multimedia in focus.

Nevermind, just decide if you want DEB or RPM to handle your packages. That's it...

Why don't you use Arch, Gentoo, or Slackware on your laptop? You're already familiar with them and you can copy configuration files from your desktop to minimize the "tweaking" time.
