LinuxQuestions.org - ATI TV-Wounder VE & WHAT Distro?

Do ANY distros support the ATI TV-Wounder VE television card? I've tried Red Hat 8 & Mandrake 9, but I can't recall which one "sort-of" made it work (the hard drive that I had those distro's on has since been removed/reformatted for a different project and the old Windows hard drive is in there now). I realize that it was actually an application program that I ran, but I can't recall what it was or what distro had it. I want to say it was packaged with the Red Hat 8 distro, but it COULD have been Mandrake 9 -- I just can't remember (they're close cousins so I hope it doesn't matter). This may all be pointless since it's really the "application" that I need. Hopefully, someone can help.

Info you may need to know: The computer is a clone Duron 900MHz CPU on a ABit KG7 mobo (256 Meg of RAM). The TV card is a ATI "TV-Wounder VE" and works beautifully under Windows 98 (clear reception etc. -- it also seems to be somewhat compatible with the Bt-878 "chip"). The video card is a AOpen NVidia GeForce 2 MX-400 (getting the "acceleration" to work is ANOTHER topic, but not now). The Monitor is a CTL 9Ln 19-inch. The sound card is a Sound Blaster Live! Value. The network (NIC) is a SMC 1244TX Ethernet 10/100. There's other stuff too, but not really all that relevent (I don't think).

With the exception of the NIC and hard drive, nothing has changed since I saw this WORK with the now forgotten Linux distro (Red Hat or Mandrake). However, it didn't work all that well when compared to the MSWindows performance since tuning in stations over the air under Linux was something of a nightmare; that is, IF it even tuned in a station to begin with! (Actually, it did get a couple of stations but hardly all that are on the air). I'm sure some of you might know that ATI doesn't support this TV card under anything other than Windows 95/98 and maybe mE. It's NOT supported under any of the Widnows NT kernel versions like NT4, 2000, or XP either (cough! gag!, sorry I had to mention them, but it may be important). Anyway, I have lots of Linux distros to try and can get anything available over the Internet with high-speed cable modem -- I' m probably the only person in USA with NO cable TV or a satellite dish and still relies on over-the-air broadcasts, but I DO have cable Internet! So downloading an ISO image is not that bad (usually takes about an hour for 600Meg :D ).
