i jus brought an amd 3200+ 64 bit proc and i was about to install suse 9.1 into it but when i got to the installation part i got a msg saying something about my system being a 64 bit and the linux distro is made for 32 bit. so i didnt install it..

http://www.slamd64.com/
I just installed it for a friend on his amd64 3500+.
Man, it rocks... I compiled Xmame in 15mn. It takes 40mn on my 32bit 2800+ and 20mn on my 4 PC cluster. All the system is very reactive. Of course, installing 64bit programs can be tricky, but http://linuxpackages.net/ provides 64bit slackware packages.

You can install a 32-bit without problem... but if you want to dig Linux, then a Slackware-based-64bit-distro is just perfect.

I suggest you to take a look at http://www.slackbook.org/html/index.html
All is here. Slackware seems to be difficult to install, but in fact, it's the simpliest installation ever. Enjoy.

Question

Ok, but installing whatever dist just as usual (on a Athlon64) wont be a problem then?
I dont want any extra problems either...not with installation ant not with install of programs later on.
