A good linux distro for a USB drive
I would like to know which distro would you recommend for this conditions:
- Needs to run in a 2GB USB drive (portable, gonna be plugged mainly on desktops).
- Minimalist approach (the less the better)
- Needs to run Gcc and Gdb (im taking a debugging course)
- runs on OpenBox (prefered) or anything similar to it.
- Easy support for installing programs (auto-dependency and/or a package manager would be great, but not a must)
- speed and responsiveness over beauty.
- Would be mainly for web designing, programming (web and non web) in java, jsp and C/C++

Try Porteus. It's optimized to run from USB drives, and it's under 300mb. It includes LXDE which runs on openbox. You'll need to add a few programs to the base in order to do all that you want to. It has a package manager, but not a lot of programs are in the database yet. Good luck!

SliTaz is lightweight, uses Openbox, has a good package manager, and includes the excellent TazUSB utility for installing on a flash drive.

Puppy Linux has always been my favorite for USB sticks.

"Easy support for installing programs"
This almost limits you to the top distros with your choice of window manager.
I would have suggested slitaz however.
