A good distro to use as a virtual box host

Hi, I'm looking to setup an older machine to host some virtual machines using virtual box, and I'm wondering which distro would be best to load as the host? The machine I will be using is an AMD64 X2 with 4GB of DDR RAM so I was thinking a 64bit host os would be best, but I'm spoiled by choice and was hoping for some advice, any thoughts/help appreciated.

Gentoo

After a bit more research I'm going to try Gentoo. I've never used it before but it seems like it will be an enjoyable challenge, and I should be able to configure it to use minimal system resources, saving more for my virtual machines.
