XServer crash on Fedora 8

ello everyone out there!!!

I had a working fedora 8 installation until today morning, which now crashes everytime I try logging in the GUI mode..

The system boots up normally(run level 5) and takes me till the login screen, at which no matter what I enter(valid and invalid login accounts) it restarts. The login screen is all that glares out at me whatever I do.

On the other hand, the CLI for the virtual consoles are all in place and respond. I tried to start the XSERVER using startx, but even that fails. It takes me till the "Are you sure you wish to continue running in Super user mode" dialog box.

The error msg:
xauth: error in locking authority file /root/.Xauthority

It also gives me a lot of warnings saying that AT_SPI_REGISTRY was not started at session startup..

Eagerly waiting for a reply..

Sounds like your xorg.conf is screwed up. I haven't used Fedora in a long time, but I did find this...I don't know if it's outdated or not...

Let us know if it worked or not...
