xfce4 mask color for transparent background

I am trying to set a background color for xfce4 panels that will
act as a mask, becoming transparent. I know you can set the
transparency level for whole window (tweaks, composition), but I would like to have just a certain color transparent, all others, including text to stay opaque.
Can be achieved from config or requires code changes.

Thank you.

See the Xfce FAQ's panel transparency section
