XFCE not showing desktop on CentOS 6.2 32bit

Hello, I am running a server and have installed xfce (from epel repositories) and tigervnc. I ran them both and have tried to connect to my server. All that showed up is the background of what I think is the desktop, I can't right click on it, I can't open the start menu with ctrl+esc.
What might I have done wrong?
Also, I have installed xfce but "top" shows that it is running gnome-session. Wtf?

Don't wonder, the aim of Xfce is not to recreate the wheels but to make the best out of it: this mean, Xfce uses both KDE and Gnome libraries, aside from the regular Gnu packaged libraries. Within Xfce you are given the options to run either or both Kde or Gnome services. An Xfce session is a session that always runs libraries from either or both Kde or Gnome.

It appears that your installation of Xfce has some problem. Try reinstall it again and have installed all needed Kde and Gnome libraries.

Did you install all basic components of Xfce? Particularly xfwm, the windows manager?

Xfce isn't very well supported in CentOS. It only turned up in EPEL quite recently and when I tried to use it last year various important bits were missing. There's only one Xfce thread at the CentOS forum, with two people whose panel kept vanishing.

If you want a GUI for your server, it might be easier to install the default of Gnome, or a simple window manager.
