xdg-open not working with Seamonkey

I'm running Slackware 14.2
I was having problems getting xdg-open "https://www.dropbox.com" to work correctly with seamonkey. it worked ok with firefox but not with seamonkey.
after a lot of xdg-settings set default-web-browser commands and digging about.
I found a file ~/.local/share/applications/userapp-SeaMonkey-2YGTDY.desktop
that is incorrect. The line "Exec=/usr/bin/seamonkey %U" was missing the %U.
I added the %U and xdg-open now works with seamonkey.
I went back and took a look at my slackware 14.0 backup system and the ~/.local/share/applications/seamonkey.desktop file has a %U in it.
So my question is which program created the userapp-SeaMonkey-2YGTDY.desktop file incorrectly?

You might want to have this moved to the Slackware sub-forum so that it gets proper attention.
