Unhappy Wine Windows half Black

I recently upgraded my screens to a pair of LG IPS231P-BN 23" IPS monitors, run by my NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS. Everything is great except that I can't run Wine apps anymore in Arch. I tried in OpenBox and in Xfce and in either I get this:

http://troll.ws/image/b240f3d1

That's an image of what I get when I launch sqlyog--the "OK/Cancel" area of the initial dialog is black--not to mention most of the app itself. My desktop background is black, so that may be why it chose that color. One other app that I want to run does the same thing. I don't know why they're black.

Below is my X log and conf file. Might anyone have any ideas?

I take it when you're not in wine the video works, right?

So I'd suspect a wine problem, not an X problem.
There are some useful Wine Debug Channels Here

The trick is to do something like
Quote:
WINEDEBUG=+synchronous wine /path/to/your/program > some.log 2>&1
The log holds the interesting stuff. Don't try +all, unless you want to read 2 gigs!

Hey, thanks for the tip. First line of the log was:

Code:
err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"winemp3.acm": libmpg123.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So I installed lib32-mpg123 package and ran it again. Still doesn't work but now that line is missing from the log anyhow.

Log has:

Code:
fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation (nil) 1 (nil) 0
fixme:ntdll:NtLockFile I/O completion on lock not implemented yet
fixme:msg:pack_message msg 14 (WM_ERASEBKGND) not supported yet
START /usr/lib/firefox/firefox "http://www.webyog.com/en/buy.php?ref=community.nagend"
Hmmm, third line is about erasing backgrounds... Google however doesn't quickly show anything like my problem. But Google did remind me that I could try to use winecfg to adjust my settings. Ran it once from CLI and after I closed it, I saw

Code:
fixme:msg:pack_message msg 14 (WM_ERASEBKGND) not supported yet
in my terminal. Hmmm.

Then I changed the graphics settings to emulate a desktop and voila--we're in business!

Now I don't really care if it emulates a desktop or not--it works now.

Thank you very much sir.

Glad I landed on something with what was a wild guess.

Those two are wine bugs. You should report them as such. I would next run
WINEDEBUG=+ntdll,+msg wine <the rest unchanged> and you'll probably have more ammunition for your bug report.

You may be able to get around this by specifying native dlls, or by some other trick. Have you got the winetricks script? If not get it. Go to http://appdb.winehq.org and search for your program. You might find workarounds

jACK-ah, in one day you've made quite a few posts at least half of which do not help the OP solve his or her problems.
With that I mean posts that are just off-topic comments or comments only serving to show you do not understand the issue.
LQ does not equal IRC or IM or whatever casual banter you think goes so please stop doing that.
