Why I can not see the minimized icon in the task Bar?

When I minimize a window the minimized icon does not show in the task-bar.I am using both KDE and GNOME please help me to get rid of this problem.

See if the following helps:

w.r.t KDE

Right click on your task-bar.
Click Add applet to the panel
Select Taskbar
click Add to the panel button at the bottom of the dialog box.
