Where is the "Looking glass" log ?

I am running Debian with Cinnamon desktop, from time to from I got warning Cinnamon crashed, mostly due to incompatible applet, but where do I find the log to see what went wrong, I don't see it on the log folder.

This is a case where you might want to use journalctl and filter the logs by time to see the entries near the approximate time of the error, rather than look at the log output in /var/log.

If you look about halfway down this tutorial, you'll see a HOWTO filter logs by time.

Thx, I found something like this with journalctl, but did not see mention any applet related error.

WARNING: t+4174.95214s: Application 'cinnamon-settings-daemon-screensaver-proxy.desktop' killed by signal 15

I'll reboot to produce the error again to get more info.

Here is the message, but does not specify which applet caused the problem.

Well, I think that the log files generated by rcsyslog from journalctl log data, so I don't think you'll find anything in the log files that's not discoverable by journalctl. (If I'm wrong, I trust someone with straighten me out.)

What is the applet in question and why are you sure it's the culprit?

I installed couple applets I believe system monitor caused the problem, it works normally but with an exclamation mark in the applet store
