What Linux would be harmony with my PC?
Hello Linux-Desktop members,
Recently, I have bought a Desktop PC with a hardware system - Intel Pentium 4, CPU 2.80 GHz, 2.0 RAM. I am wondering which Linux OS among Redhat family is proper to be installed on my PC. Would one of the latest Redhat version, such as Fedora 8.0, be working on my PC? I will simulate an air quality modeling system include three models (emission model, meteorology model, air chemistry and transport model) on the Linux system. These air quality models were written by Fortran 77/90/95 and have included multiple sub process and mechanism modules. Thank you! Luckystone21c |
Very probably any Linux distribution does just fine. If you're specially interested in the RedHat family, maybe the latest Fedora is for you.
Note: if you are unsure, try out the various live-cd versions of different distributions to get the feel of them. |
Thank you B0uncer!
I would start with Fedora and then I would learn what will be happening.
I appreciate your writing. Quote:

You've provided only CPU/RAM configuration which is I think very less information to give any recommendation.
I have a machine with almost same CPU/RAM specification and Fedora 8 is playing good with it. |
