What kinds off laser network printers are reccommended to work with CUPS

My Brother 5250DN died about a month ago and I'm looking for another laser printer. I would prefer color, but mono is fine. Is there any better laser printer that works with CUPS that people would recommend? I'm running Ubuntu 11.04.

i use postscript only laser printer the last 15 years in Linux without any problems. From my experience i can recommend Kyocera laser printers, which all supports postscript 2/3.

Is there a networkd model? Parallel interface or CAT5? [[ I would really prefer the latter.]]
Do these work with CUPS, out of th box?

FWIW I like and have both HP and Brother printers. Here are the recommended printers from HP.

Does "wireless" permit CAT5 ?

Thanks for the list. I did not buy a HP-wireless laserjet because I want things to operate thru my Hub/Switch so i can use my printer from any laptops. So: do you know if I must look for a "wired" model?

Has to work thru CUPS, too... plug and play. Or close to.

Depends on the model but yes you need to look for a model that has ethernet connectivity.

If it compatible with hplip it will work with cups.

Well, hours of hunting have given me the clues that the Hp laserjet has the best deal. I have found at least one printer that is no longer supported. ALL of the laserjets seem to be refurbished--even the higher end models. What do you think of the cp2025n? Some seem to come without toners and some with. Before I decide on a unit, I would be much obliged on your opinion re the cp5225n, the cp2025n, or the 2605dtn. Yours or anybody else who is into printers!

Just out of curiosity how did you like the Brother?

The 5250DN worked well for almost six yeas. Too bad I couldn't get CUPS working until just this year. Question for you: when I buy the 2025 should I have them include the toner with the printers or buy them separately?

Pretty sure that the HP is now. I bought the 5250 in '05 after having used an HP inkjet for 11 years. No, no kidding. The killer was the ink, of course; that's why I bought the mono laser.

May I bother you with some links to the refurbs I've found? (Offline, unless anybody else is interested.) I trust the brand names; not so sure about the sellers!

Prev'ly I think you were asking if the printers w/out toners or with toners were cheaper. It's very hard to tell! I'm sure these companies hire Ph.D.'s in marketing to price their stuff. Until the buyer is ready to pull out his last hair. But, oh-well:)
