I'd like to try KDE 3.5.7 but the last time i tried to update (from 3.5.4) things went a bit wrong. I cant remember how i fixed it but it was a pain. Are there any ways of making it easier if things do go wrong, or any other tips.
I wish it was practical I'd love to upgrade to 12.0 but unfortunately some of the stuff set up on here wasnt set up by me, I just know it would be a big headache trying to get them working again, and people are relying on me to keep them up.
I heard that upgrading your distro using slapt-get is pretty dangerous, is that true?

So, you're administrating a site? If the "stuff" you're talking about is software, it should remain intact, save for any dependencies on shared-object libraries that may have changed in the intervening versions. What sort of "stuff" is that?

I have heard similarly, however since I enjoy managing Slackware packages myself, I've never had the misfortune of finding out. The upgrade process in CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT is pretty easy to follow. I've done it twice. Just to give you some perspective, I'm not the sort of person who believes that something that takes less time is easier. I would consider it easier if it works.
