VNC not starting

Hi,

I am getting error while starting the vnc.I have vncserver running on RHEL4 and when i run the VNCviewer from my windows client i get an error "No password Configured for VNC auth " vncserver is running under root and i have set the password and i can see /root/.vnc/passwd file.

Here are my settings

/etc/sysconfig/vncservers

VNCSERVERS="1:root"
# Root VNC options
VNCSERVERARGS[1]="-geometry 1280x1024"

Vncserver start without no errors so i beleive that all the configuration files are fine.i have tried to reset the passwd but still the same.

Vnc is connecting which means the ports are opened in /etc/services.i have check all the vnc configuration files i.e. /etc/xinetd.d/vnc,/root/.vnc/xstartup,/etc/X11/xorg.conf everything looks ok.

please advise

Two things;

First the VNC default port is different in Linux(port 5901) then in Windows(port 5900), so one has to tell the Windows vncviewer which port to use.

Second, follow the guide here; http://fedoranews.org/tchung/vnc/

Thanks for quick response.

That seem to have worked.

Thanks,
