Used space is more than volume size?
If I select right-click > properties for a volume (external hd) in Nautilus, it says that 285GB is used, while the volume size is 279.4GB - and 2.3GB is free.
A df -h says 264G is used. The partition is 300 gig in size, which doesn't really help much given the reduction from having a filesystem, but presumably the df output is most likely to be correct. Is Nautilus somehow counting the file sizes wrongly when it scans the volume? |
im not familiar with nautilus myself (i run KDE) could it perhaps be following symbolic links and counting them towards the partition?
do you have any? |
Aha :) Yeah there are a number of symlinks on the drive - I think thats what it is. Should've thought of that!
Thanks :) |
