USB pens on XDMCP clients?

Hello there.

At my work, i have some older machines connecting to an XDMCP ubuntu server. The clients work well and good, but i wonder if it is in any way possible to use local devices, like USB pens, on the client machines. Is there a way or workaround?

Thanks in advance

So, you're logged into the server - remotely.

From the servers point of view, the client you're just sitting in front of, is a remote machine.

So, the client has to mount the usb stick and export it to the network - e.g. via samba.

Then, the server you're just logged into, can access the usb stick via the smb protocol.

The interesting part will be to set up some access rights ... in case you need them.
