I recommend you do not run Firefox as root, or else you are giving the entire Internet administrator access to your PC. :(

Here are easy instruction to create a limited user for everyday tasks (such as surfing the web): https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Users_and_groups

Hi Snowpine

Thanks for your reply...

I logged into another user and get the same error..

It shows the same message "Firefox already running but not responding"

so you mean after a reboot you cannot start firefox at all?
can you find any process named firefox?

s... After rebooting the issue is going...
I use the
#ps aux | grep firefox

It shows the process id with name firefox and i use the command

#pkill PID firefox

But i again use the command

#ps aux | grep firfox

It again shows the process id with the name firefox

you can check the parent process id of firefox (what and how it was started). also you need to check your gui settings why it was automatically started.

actually I do not know what os is installed, what gui is in use, so hard to tell anything. Also I would like to know exactly how can you reproduce it (starting from reboot).

Hi Pan

I am using Suse linux 10.1 and i have a kde desktop..

John VV 03-04-2014 01:52 PM

i take it you are not aware that
suse has two different Operating systems

one FREE
and the other NOT !!!! FREE

and both for 10 are unsupported and very VERY OLD
the current NOT free suse is
SELD 11 service pack 3
the current free version is
OpenSUSE 13.1

you have installed eather SLED 10 sp1
or
opensuse 10.1

one of the issues you are having with firefox is that in the antique suse 10
it is Firefox1 or 2

the current firefox is Firefox 27
25 or 26 versions NEWER

and as i recall in the old suse 10
KDE3 was used back then
the current is KDE4

please install a current Operating System

for SUSE that is

the FREE
OpenSUSE 13.1

or BUY a license for the NOT free
"SUSE Enterprise Linux Desktop 11 sp3 "( SELD11 sp3)
