unable to open ooffice through vncserver?

for some reason i'm not able to open openoffice through a vncserver running over putty. it appears that the program opens on my 0:0 display (remote is 2:0), although i can't find it remotely using ps aux. when i get home however, i'll see several instances open on the local desktop. from the command line i get no output. all other x programs work fine (using firefox remotely now...). any ideas?

figured this out about 2 seconds after i posted it. when i used ps -eLf, ooffice showed up. killing all open processes and reopening from the remote terminal worked. wonder why it doesn't show up with ps aux though?
