Question Ubuntu GDM - how to abort the login process

I'm trying to compile a small script that is run as soon as the user enters his/her username and password into gdm login screen.

The script will prompt a message asking if the user wants to continue to login or abort and return to the login screen.

All I need to know is how can I abort the login process if the users select "No" to continue. The rest I'm pretty much sorted with.

Thanx in advance.

Thumbs up Solution

Found solution

The GDM startup, login and logout process is defined by the Default file inside each of the following folders inside the /etc/gdm/ folder (See doc above):

Inside the /etc/gdm/ folder though there is a file called Xsession. This file actually seems to handle to login process from when the user enter his/her username and password in the GDM login screen until the user's desktop appears.

By inserting "exit" in the beginning section of this script, you effectively abort the login process and Ubuntu automatically returns you to the GDM login screen.

Hope this helps some one.

gdm, login, return, script, ubuntu
