Ubuntu freezes when playing video

I had to get a new motherboard/cpu/memory/grahics card recently. I'm using the same linux (Ubuntu 22.04) that I was before the upgrade. It runs fine *except* that it freezes when playing video, even those annoying little web page videos that play automatically. I mean, totally locks up everything, have to do a hard reboot.

I've found a number of similar threads on LQ and elsewhere, but the solutions all seem to be pretty specific (e.g. upgrade to kernel X) and haven't helped me. There is nothing in the logs that gives me a hint of the problem. I did find that someone was requested to give the output of
Code:
inxi -Fxz
, so here's mine. Thank you!

Yes, that's what nouveau does - freezes when hardware video acceleration is used. Replace it with proprietary nvidia drivers.
