Ubuntu Desktop Sharing Encryption

I've recently upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 and want to turn on 'desktop sharing'. I need this to be secure(encrypted). In the Desktop Sharing Preferences pane, I see no option to turn on encryption. Does this mean there is no encryption available for desktop sharing or that it's always encrypted and can't be turned off? Anyone know how I get an encrypted remote desktop connection?

The basic Remote desktop is not safe to use But there is freenx this can be used with ssh

'desktop sharing' is just VNC, so no encryption. You can tunnel VNC over ssh. Put 'vnc over ssh' in to Google and you'll get lots of examples.
