Ubuntu 9.04 and KDE applications

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 linux distribution based in gnome desktop.

I'd like to use DIGIKAM software because I think is a good software for picture edition with a complexity between Gimp and F-Spot.

The problem is that this software is KDE based and when I run it, I note problems whith windows refresh. Menus and previes don't refresh correctly and this causes a difficult to work at.

If I use KDE 4 desktop instead of GNOME, no refresh problems ocurrs and the experience is good.

So, How can I use DIGIKAM on GNOME 2.26 (Ubuntu) without these refresh problems?

Thank you!

PD: Sorry for my bad English.

I have no knowledge about your problem, but since this program calls heavily your video card, I would look in this direction and look for library that you may miss.

Otherwise, you do like me you, go for KDE, because in my opinion the software are better than Gnome.
