Ubuntu 8.04 not detect 2 TB externel Harddisk..

Dear All,

We have installed ubutnu 8.04 (Hardy). we need to copy the datas from 2 TB Externel HDD, but when we connect HDD there are no responce form ubuntu machine. The same HDD work fine with windows xp. We need solution...

Watch the output of dmesg when you connect the drive:

Does the device appear in /dev when you connect it? e.g. is there a new entry for /dev/sdb1 or the like? You can also check with the dmesg command when you connect the drive.

If you do see it, try to mount it manually.

If the partition size is greater than 2TB, it may have a GUID partition table, in which case you can inspect the disk with the gparted or gdisk commands.
