ubuntu 12.04 screen problem ?

Hello
I have a problem when I started Ubuntu 12.04

The screen become like this
The image is on Attach Files

My computer
Ram: 2GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon X1600 256MB
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core processor 4600+ 2.4 GHz

Is there anyone know how I can fix the problem ?

if you run OS as Virtual machine than it doesnt use your hardware but emulated hardware. Check virtual machine settings, especially graphics.

is there a overwhelming NEED to use the rather OLD Ubuntu 12.04 ?
the current is Ubuntu 13.10

I get the same problem when i use ubuntu 13.10. I have downloaded it from here http://www.ubuntu.com/download/zh-CN

12.04 is the LTS version, so there is no problem at all with it being a bit older, unless you really want to have an OS that is only supported for 9 months.

I've fixed the problem.
The problem was the display that are VMware, it was highlighted in the Accelerate 3D graphics. When I removed it, then it started to work perfectly.
