two hard drives - two operating systems - and toggle without reboot


greetings,
i have got a desktop with two hard drives: one hosting winXP, the other suse 10.3 ... both are working fine, and grub is no problem ... i just wonder, whether there is a way to toggle between the two os without having to reboot .. thanks, theo

Really the only way to do that would be to run one inside a virtual machine on the other. That is, virtualize windows under linux or linux under windows.

does this mean i would have to create a windows partition on the linux drive? or can i rig virtualbox, or vmware as to recognise the other drive? ... theo

Oh, you could definitely rig up virtualbox or vmware to recognize them. I have a laptop which dual boots windows and linux on the same drive (different partitions) and I do that sometimes - bring my Windows side up in a VirtualBox virtual machine.

Well, which way around do you want to do it. Running windows in a virtual machine is more ... involved than running linux in a VM. Have to fool windows in order to do it, because of anti-piracy measures.
