two distros - only one available

I've been running Mint 13 very successfully. I wanted a second distro to act as backup and so installed Stella.

The trouble is that I can now boot from Stella but when I try to boot from Mint I get 'error 13 press any key to continue' When I press any key I'm sent back to boot from Stella.

Do I have to change something in Grub and, if I do, how do I do it, please.

How did you install Stella? it may have overwritten your bootloader. I have never used stella and am not sure what its support is, I know Mint supports dual boot installs so if you installed Stella first then Mint it would have seen the exisiting bootloader and saved ur config and re-set it up but I don't believe Stella has that check from what I can see online.

I installed Stella second, after Mint. I think you must be right about Stella overwriting. I'm going to install Mint again, this time in the partition that holds Stella - this way I should have two Mints, both working.

Then, I'll make up my mind about two distros. Stella seems rather too techie for me.

I'll let you know what happens

Well, i've given up on the idea of two distros. I couldn't get them working together so I overwrote Stella with PcLinuxOS. That seemed okay - until I updated. It then gave me too many problems.

So I back to having Mint 13 as the one and only.

Thanks for your reply.
