Tri-boot attempt: Windows making trouble
 

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, I'm not sure where to ask this kind of question:

I'm having trouble with a tri-boot I've set up.

Basically, since my computer has more RAM and a better processor than can be optimally used by a 32-bit OS, I have a 64-bit distribution of Linux, and also the x64 version of Windows XP set up as a dualboot.

However, Windows XP 64 is very buggy, and some applications simply necessitate a third OS: The original x86 version of Windows XP.

I currently can boot to a GRUB loader, which gets me to Ubuntu just fine, but for some reason, despite having installed them on separate partitions, the windows OSes won't both show up on the menu. Is there any way to get GRUB to show both as options?

Okay, I figured this out. I'm still not 100% sure quite how I got the loaders to work, but I do know one thing:

If you're trying this, and you don't have any OSes installed already, you should install Windows XP (32-bit) first, and Ubuntu last. What I ended up getting was a GRUB loader that could choose between ubuntu and another loader, which gave the choice between 32- and 64-bit Windows. Merely installing the OSes in the aforementioned order will yield this result.

That's just the way M$oft loader works. You install a later version, and choose to dual boot, and the loader is replaced, and the boot.ini (prior to Vista) is updated to allow you select which one.

Grub just chainloads to that.
